sound effects
sound that is not dialog or voice over or music

has an origin in the films world and can be on or off screen world and is made to happening he world that exists in the film world
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ChPTKPzB4I
non digetic
this is essentially the same as diegetic but it is completely opposite

music in the background
musical keys
as well as a zombie when it stumbled around corner and the camera quickly opens to it

contrapuntal sound
sound that strongly contrasts with the mood or the tone of the scene
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsTSN_SyU9E
parallel sound
matches the mood
matches the tone of the scene
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KYxYOo2RnA
exaggerated/pleonastic sound
this is very over done sound and is used to heighten emotions or build tension in a scene
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxjvKfaAoqk
then we spent the rest of the session on Foley and ended up creating our own small scene form film whilst learning more about Foley and creating our own sound for a scene of a film
