Term 1
Justin work
we spent the morning learning and practicing shot types and angels
but first we started with what media actually is and my definition was "presenting information or entertainment to a variate of people" and every body had there own and we were all right because media is an evolving thing that is constantly changing.
shot types
extreme long shot (xls) a wide view of setting and purpose to emphasis and expand of space isolation grandeur and spectacle
the purpose of this is to show the audience a large view of the setting as well as it gives us a good idea of where we are and it focuses more on surrounding rather than the character
long shot(ls) closer than xls but you still show whole screen and it gives more detail than xls
the purpose of this is to show the character as equally the surrounding to give an idea of the character in shot as well as a location equally
medium long (ml) shot this focuses on the subject and we learn more about the subject and setting
the purpose of this shot is to show the main character from the knees up and to show the main character rather than the surroundings
mid shot (ms)waste up and more focus on the character rather than the settings
the purpose of this shot is to show the main character or group of character and focuses on smaller details or emotions and what they are dong rather than surroundings
medium close up (mcu) concentrated on emotion and the character used for news readers
the purpose of this shot is to show the main character from the elbows up to focus on small detail or emotions or it is sometimes used to show an item as well to focus on a certain item or character
close up (cu) see full emotions as well as face details
the purpose is to show a lot of detail of a certain thing as well as to show a characters emotions and smaller face details
big close up (bcu) only time that you should ever cut of part of the face but it shows more social triangle
the purpose of this is to show a lot of detail and mainly focuses on emotion to give an atmosphere or very close amount of detail on a face or item
extreme close up (ecu) a lot of detail on minute details on a specific item such as an eye or tear drop
And for angles they were not really covered but there was low and high angled shots which are helpful and use full in film making
the same thing goes for the one above but you would focus in even more such as a tear drop or blink to see a clear view of the eye to give enotion
high angel (ha) use to show that they are small and week and typically used on heroes when facing the villain to show power to the villain
this is typically used if you wanted to show weakness or lack of power and strength in a character setting up a scene or matching the music to put the character in a place
low angel (la) used to show power and strength
this is used in film to show a powerfully character or person who is strong typically used on a villain to show that the is powerful and strong and to show weakness to ward everyone else
canted angel
this angel is a normal shot that could be anytime but it could. be used for any angel the only thing that it is different is the fact that it is slanted and the shot is filmed as an angel
worms eye view
this angle Is hot unlike a low angle which is low but a worms eye view is even lower as if you were a worm and it is used to show extreme power or strength
birds eye view
"A bird's-eye view is an elevated view of an object from above, with a perspective as though the observer were a bird, often used in the making of blueprints, floor plans, and maps. It can be an aerial photograph, but also a drawing."
point of view
"Point-of-view, or simply p.o.v., camera angles record the scene from a particular player's viewpoint. Thepoint-of-view is an objective angle, but since it falls between the objective and subjective angle, it should be placed in a separate category and given special consideration."
neutral shot
"They also include the eye-level camera angle and the point of view shot. A high-angle shot (HA) is a shotin which the camera is physically higher than the subject and is looking down upon the subject. ... Aneutral shot or eye-level (EL) shot has little to no psychological effect on the viewer."
social triangle
the facial features cover this to represent the audience and the director views but the 2 eyes go at the top and the mouth is paced at the point of the triangle
but we filmed ours and we used medium shot xls long shot close up and xls couple up and a long shot through out our film which is quite good we managed to get it done relatively quickly and easily and this all seamed to be good and it was ll done in a relative short some as well as a basic review and refresher on the equipment which was useful and better for me due to the fact that it was practical and hands on which was good but this was our 8 frame piece which we found quite difficult to think of something to fit with in 8 frame .
But the rest of the week we spent with foxy doing his framing work which is in another blog.
I learnt some more about framing and borders with tony and how to frame a poster as well as some of the main aspect of the poster that you would need to have such as
Title
Graphic
Colour
pictures
words (Texts)
lines shapes and symbols
space
ratings
age certificate
as well as i learnt that margins are the simple building blocks for a poster to see where every thing would go and where it fits with in the borders as well as there is gutters which are essentially the same as margins in the sense that both of them have no type and are just informational based
as well as there is blood merging which is where it goes over the borders and merges with everything,
And we spent the morning designing a base for a poster that is to be created later on but i went for a Rambo poster for a 5th film which is very good
